This publication aims to raise awareness and promote the potential of European social economy enterprises and organisations in the inclusion of people with disabilities by sharing good practices which look at: employment, training and education, services and accessibility.The content of this guide is based on information and expertise provided and gathered by members of the Social Economy and Disability Working Group (SE&D) through consultation with the Social Economy Europe (SEE) member organisations and partners, as well as other relevant stakeholders in the field.
A joint publication by Fundación ONCE and the ILO Global Business and Disability Network, developed within the framework of Disability Hub Europe, a project led by Fundación ONCE and co-funded by the European Social Fund.This publication aims to contribute to the visibility of persons with disabilities in the debates about the future of work. Digital access is complex picture with multiple factors driving, compounding and impacting those who are included or excluded.The report explores a number of features of the digital inclusion debate including analysing the components that comprise appropriate digital access, examines the impacts around a lack of access, maps exclusion factors in the UK and outlines the current policy and practice landscape, including successful interventions.

This study intends to provide a better understanding of the challenges with regard to the integration of refugees into the labour-markets. What are the strategies and practices implemented in different EU Member States to facilitate access to employment? What do we know about their effectiveness? What are good practices and lessons learned in different countries? The study includes detailed case studies for the following nine EU Member States: Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. The research points to the need for increased coordination at all levels, the conditions for successful public-private partnerships, and the adequate sequence of work integration and language learning, for example. There is a body of evidence that consistently shows that positive relationships and kindness are at the very heart of our wellbeing. In this discussion paper Carnegie Associate Zoe Ferguson starts a process to engage directly with people who want to inject kindness back into their work and communities. This discussion paper explores the evidence on the impact of everyday relationships and kindness on individual and societal wellbeing, and community empowerment and develops a theory of change. Over the coming months the project aims to learn with communities and organisations involved in developing practical approaches to encourage kinder communities.

This study sought to quantify the scale, focus and geographic location of private funding for anti- slavery initiatives, as well as identify promising trends and funding gaps that need to be addressed.Its goal is to deepen the conversation among donors, NGOs and other partners in order to foster new partnerships, generate additional and sustained support, and promote strategic investing in those areas that will deliver the greatest impact.
When We Raise Our Voice: The Challenge of Eradicating Labor Exploitation, An Evaluation of a Community Empowerment Intervention in Uttar Pradesh, IndiaMarch 1, 2016
Manav Sansadhan Evam Mahila Vikas Sansthan (MSEMVS) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that has worked for decades with communities in the Indian State of Uttar Pradesh (UP) to eradicate forced and bonded labor. This report is an independent, evidence-based assessment of MSEMVS's work, produced by the FXB Center, Harvard's only university-wide human rights center, with funding from the Freedom Fund, a philanthropic initiative designed to bring financial resources and strategic focus to the fight against modern slavery. The research project had two primary aims: 1) To determine whether forced and bonded labor had been eradicated in villages where targeted interventions by MSEMVS took place; and 2) To measure the effect that the intervention had on a wide range of social and economic factors relevant to households within those villages.
Emerging social entrepreneurs need time, support, and financial "runway" to innovate on for-profit business models that deliver impact and financial returns. In the current impact investing market, seed grants or similar types of risk-tolerant capital, like recoverable grants, are instrumental in launching these for-profit and hybrid start-ups, but more are needed. As the social entrepreneurship field evolves to include innovative profit- and impact-generating models, new types of finance and assistance that support these innovative leaders must also emerge. To shed more light on the types of support and financing needed, Echoing Green -- a nonprofit organization with nearly thirty years of experience in supporting emerging social entrepreneurs through a highly competitive fellowship program -- provides a look into how and from where self-identified social entrepreneurs are capitalizing their businesses at the earliest stages and what type of financing and investment-readiness support they need to get to the next level. Data reported by its Fellowship semifinalist applicants proposing for-profit and hybrid business models are provided as part of its impact investing program.
Social entrepreneurs -- a new form of entrepreneurship is paving the way. Entrepreneurs with a social mission are setting new priorities without discarding proven business principles. They rarely limit themselves to just one region, but want to make a difference for as many people as possible. And not only in their own country. After all, many social challenges can only be solved if good ideas and effective approaches are applied across borders.This is the first European study to examine both national and transnational scaling strategies and their success factors. A total of 358 social enterprises in six European countries were surveyed for this quantitative study, which provides a basis for further knowledge acquisition and serves as a decisionmaking tool that can help social enterprises choose the scaling strategy that is right for them.
The Carnegie UK Trust has a 100 year history of empowering young people and supporting access to high-quality education and projects which help young people to develop their skills and improve their employability. The Trust's position paper on enterprise demonstrates how access to high-quality enterprise education and entrepreneurial learning has the potential to improve students' knowledge, skills and attitudes towards self-employment which can create economic activity and jobs, and highlights examples of good practice from across the UK and Ireland.
